Our Makerspace

What is a Makerspace?   The Makerspace is an expansion of  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).    The 2023-24 school year has a full time teacher - Becky Foutch - to lead students thru lesson plans and activities in the Makerspace/STEAM classroom.

The space cultivates creative ways for students to design, experiment, build and invent as they engage in science, engineering, art and tinkering.  With a generous donation the Makerspace now has  a new 3-D printer!  Our school has worked hard to expand STEAM programs knowing they provide opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, independence, agency and cooperative learning.

The Makerspace is a free-use space supported by the PTA, community donations, and volunteers.

  • The Makerspace Lunch Club is a parent-supervised lunchtime period for upper-grade students to engage in creative independent and collaborative projects. The Lunch Club is a very popular program and is one of the most gratifying volunteer opportunities at Henry Ford.
  • After School Makerspace is Henry Ford staff supervised as an afterschool program.
  • We encourage you to sign-up to volunteer or to donate materials,Check out our wish list link in the PTA newsletter or reach out to  steam@henryfordpta.org
